Beneath the Waves is an original watercolor painting inspired by the restless energy of seagulls gliding just above the water, where wind, light, and waves merge into a single movement.

The painting captures the fleeting moment as the gulls descend toward the sea, their wings suspended between effortless flight and the rising surf below. Loose watercolor washes let the ocean and sky dissolve into one another, while confident, expressive brushwork brings the birds forward. Soft blues, cool greys, and touches of warm ochre create a luminous coastal atmosphere filled with motion and light.

Rather than depicting a specific coastline, I wanted to capture the sea’s rhythm and the freedom of birds carried by the wind.
