About Olga Tchefranov

I am Olga Tchefranov, a watercolor artist based in Israel. I create original paintings inspired by nature, wildlife, cities, and quiet moments, inviting the viewer to pause and look a little closer.
Watercolor is at the heart of my work. I also work in oil, pastel, and mixed media, allowing each subject to find the medium that suits it best.
Painting from Life
Whenever possible, I paint outdoors, working directly from nature.
Plein-air painting allows me to experience a place before translating it onto paper or canvas. Changing light, weather, color, and unexpected details all become part of the process.
In the Studio
Back in the studio, I continue the process of observation and exploration. Some paintings begin with a sketch or a photograph, while others grow from memories and impressions gathered outdoors.
I work slowly, building color, atmosphere, and detail layer by layer. Watercolor remains my primary medium, but I also enjoy exploring oil, pastel, and mixed media.
Teaching & Workshops

Sharing the painting process is an important part of my work. I teach watercolor and drawing, helping students understand not only how to paint, but how to see — how to observe light, color, shape, and atmosphere.
I regularly teach workshops and painting classes, both in the studio and outdoors. I especially enjoy working with students who want to develop their own artistic voice while gaining confidence with watercolor.
For me, teaching is another way of sharing my love of art.
My Artistic Journey
My artistic journey began in animation. I graduated from Israel Animation College and later worked as a digital-based game artist.
Over time, painting became the central part of my creative life. My background in animation continues to influence the way I approach composition, movement, character, and visual storytelling. Today, I am dedicated to fine art, working primarily in watercolor while continuing to explore other media.
